Tilasin muutama viikko sitten
Elf'n nettikaupasta meikkejä, ja tiistaina sain ne viimein kätösiini. En ole ehtinyt vielä testata niitä käytännössä, eli en osaa antaa hirmu tarkkaa arviota. Esittelen tässä kuitenkin tuotteet ja kerron, miltä ne minusta vaikuttavat.
A few weeks back I ordered some make up from the
Elf online store, and on tuesday they finally arrived. I haven't had the chance to try them out in use, but I'll show you the products I got and explain my initial opinions.
Tärkein syy siihen, että halusin kokeilla Elfin tuotteita, on niiden halpa hinta, varsinkin kun laatu kuulemma on silti hyvä. High Definition Powder varmaan olikin kallein yksittäinen tuote, ja se maksoi 6,80€. Läpinäkyvästä/näkymättömästä puuterista se on tosi vähän, tosin pakkauksessa on aika pieni määrä tuotetta, 8g. Tuota litteää kasvosientä en taida käyttää, sellaisella laitan aina vahingossa liikaa kerralla.
Puuteri on todella hienojakoista ja ainakin sormiin hieroessani se jätti pehmeän tunteen. Saa nähdä, miten se toimii ja kestää meikkivoiteen päällä. Olen aiemmin käyttänyt Rimmelin Silky Loose -puuteria, jonka pitäisi olla läpinäkyvää mutta mielestäni se kyllä tummentaa kasvoja. Tuo Rimmelin irtopuuteri on silti ihan ok, se pysyy pitempiäkin aikoja mutta ei kuivata. Kerron sitten myöhemmin, mikä on vertailun tulos... :)
The most important reason for me to try Elf were their low prices, especially since I've heard the quality is good. High Definition Powder must have been the most expensive single product at 6,80€. I think that is pretty cheap for a translucent powder, even though there is quite little product: 8g. I doubt I'll ever use that flat face puff which came with the package, I always accidentally use too much with those.
The powder is very fine and left my fingers feeling soft and smooth when I rubbed it on them. I'll have to see how it works on foundation. I have been using Rimmel Silky Loose Face Powder, which is supposed to be translucent but I think it darkens my face. I still like the Silky Loose powder, though, as it stays on for long periods of time but doesn't dry out the skin. I'll let you know what's my verdict on comparison... :)
Olen pitkään halunnut kokeilla voidemaista silmänrajaajaa, joka on siis kynän ja nestemäisen välimuoto. Elfin Cream Eyeliner vaikuttaa ihan hyvältä, sitä oli helppo käyttää ja käsitellä (vaikka olen kuullut, että voide-linerit voivat olla hankalia). Pidän pakkauksesta kovasti, se on kaunis. Mukana tuli tuo pienempi vinopäinen sivellin, mutta sen varsi on niin lyhyt että tuntui oudolta. Muutenkin käytän mieluummin tuota jo omistamaani ohutta sivellintä, (jonka laitoin kuvaan myös) sillä silloin jälkeä on helpompi hallita. Ainoana haittapuolena vaikuttaa siltä, että silmänrajausvoide ei oikein meinaa asettua paikoilleen, vaan saattaa sotkea ja levitä. Pitää kokeilla, vaikuttaako pohjustusvoide asiaan.
I've wanted to try a cream eyeliner for a long time. The Elf one seems good enough, I found it easy to use (I've heard that cream liners tend to be difficult). I really like the packaging, it's pretty. It came with that small angled brush, but the handle is so short it's hard to use. I prefer a very thin brush that I own, anyway (I included it in the picture), because it makes for easier control of the line I draw. The only downside seems to be that the Cream Eyeliner doesn't set very well, so I'm afraid it might smudge. I'll have to try if an eye makeup base helps with that.
Voide tai nestemäinen highlighter on myös yksi niistä asioista, joita olen halunnut kokeilla jo kauan. Tilasin siis All Over Color Stickin vaaleimmassa värissä jota löytyi. Puikko on pienempi kuin olin toivonut, ja koostumus aika paksu. Väri näyttää iholla valkoiselta, joten täytyy olla tarkkana, ettei sitä laita liikaa, sekä häivyttää kunnolla. Puikossa on miellyttävä, hedelmäinen tuoksu. Luulen, että tulen pitämään siitä, vaikka hieman juoksevampi koostumus olisi voinut olla kuivalle iholleni parempi.
Valitsin tarkoituksella tummempia ja hieman epätavallisemman värisiä huulipunia tilaukseeni. Olen viime aikoina nimittäin ostanut vain vaaleita (nudeja ja pastellin pinkkejä) huulimeikkejä, ja ajattelin, etten tarvitse enempää.
Luscious Liquid Lipstick oli pettymys. Tuotetta on todella vähän. Eniten häiritsee kuitenkin se, että väri ei erotu ollenkaan: huulilla se näyttää vain kiillolta. Tuubissa sillä on kaunis, violettiin taittava punaruskea sävy, mutta iholla se ei näy.
Plumping Lip Glaze on kaunis, värillisessä päässä on kultaista kimalletta ja läpinäkyvä puoli kimaltaa vaaleana. En ole huomannut, että se juurikaan "pullistaisi" huulia niin kuin luvataan, vaikka vähän se kihelmöi. Kimalteet heijastavat kumminkin valoa tavalla, joka saa huulet näyttämään paksummilta (kolmiulotteisemmilta).
Lip Stain eli "huulikuulto" on lempparini näistä. Senhän on tarkoitus nimensä mukaan "tahrata" eli ikään kuin värjätä huulet, upota ihoon niin että tuotetta ei jää pinnalle. Koostumukseltaan se on yllättävän täyteläistä ja pehmeää, joten se on paljon miellyttävämpi ja helppokäyttöisempi kuin muut kokeilemani, esim. The Body Shopin Lip and Cheek Stain. Lip Stainin toisessa päässä on tavallinen, läpinäkyvä huulikiilto, jota kuuluu laittaa päälle huulivärin imeydyttyä, sillä muuten huulet kuivuvat. Sävy, jonka ostin, on mielestäni omaperäinen oranssiin ja ruskeaan taittava punainen, ja se sopi minulle paremmin kuin arvasin. Haluaisin kuitenkin kovasti kokeilla jotain vaaleampaakin sävyä, esimerkiksi "
Birthday Suit".
Another thing I've wanted to have a go at is either a cream or liquid highlighter. So I ordered an All Over Color Stick in the lightest shade they got. The stick is smaller than I had hoped for, and the consistency is pretty thick. It looks white on the skin, so I'll have to be careful not to put too much and to blend it well. It has a nice, fruity smell. I think I'll end up liking it, though a more moisturising texture would have been better for my dry skin.
I consciously chose darker and more unique colours for the lip products I ordered. I've been only buying light coloured lip products recently (nudes and light pinks) so I thought I don't need any more.
Luscious Liquid Lipstick was a disappointment. There is very little product. What bothers me the most, however, is that the colour doesn't show at all: when I put it on, it just looks like lip gloss. In the container it's got this pretty, purple-ish red-brown colour, but you can't tell when wearing it.
Plumping Lip Glaze is really pretty, the coloured end has golden sparkles and the see-through end has light shimmer. I haven't noticed it to plump my lips like it's supposed to, though it does give a slight tingly feeling. The glitter on the Lip Glaze reflects light in a way that does make my lips look thicker.
Lip Stain was my favourite of these. The texture is surprisingly creamy, which makes it more pleasant and easier to use compared to others I've tried (like The Body Shop's Lip and Cheek Stain). On the other end of the Lip Stain is a regular see-through lip gloss you put on the stain colour after it has set, to prevent drying. The shade I got is quite unique, I think, a red that has orange and brown in it, and it suits me quite well. I would like to try a lighter shade, such as
Birthday Suit.
Tilasin myös kynsilakan, mutta se on tavallinen läpinäkyvä joten en laita kuvaa. Tarvitsin uuden värittömän päällyslakan. Kokeilin sitä tänään, ja pidin kovasti. Se kuivui nopeasti ja levittyi helposti. Mielestäni se ei myöskään haissut niin pahalta kuin kynsilakat yleensä.
Yhteenvetona voisin sanoa, että Elfin tuotteet ovat hintaansa verrattuna hyvälaatuisia. Jotkut tuotteet ovat loistavia, toiset huonompia, ja parhaiten sen selvittää kokeilemalla itse. Uskon, että tulen tilaamaan jatkossakin tuotteita sieltä.
I also ordered a nail polish, but it's just a regular clear one so I won't bother with a picture. I got it simply cause I needed a new one to use as an overcoat. I tried it today, and liked it a lot. It dried up fast and was easy put on. I don't think it smelled as bad as nail polishes usually do, either.
As a summary I could say that I find Elf products good compared to the prices. Some of the products are fantastic, others not so good, and the best way to find out is to try it yourself. I think I will order from then in the future.
