Playing with makeup: mint green eyes

Olen viime aikoina tykännyt kovasti mintunvihreästä väristä. Tässä eräs ilta tylsyyksissäni päätin kokeilla, sopisiko mintunvihreä luomiväri minulle. Leikin sitten vähän muutenkin meikeillä ja testailin erilaisia juttuja. Omasta mielestäni lopputulos oli ihan kiva, mitä mieltä olette?
En jaksanut laittaa pohjameikkiä joten koko naamasta ei ole kuvia. :P

Lately I've been into the colour mint green. The other night, bored as I was, I decided to see if mint green eyeshadow suited me. Playing around I ended up trying out a couple of different looks. I think the result is okay, how about you?
I was lazy as I didn't put on any base make up, so there'll be no pics of my full face. :P

Oikeaan silmään laitoin aluksi ihan vain yksivärisen luomivärin. Oikean sävyn löytymisessä oli vähän hankaluuksia, mintunvihreän, limenvihreän ja vaaleansinisen välillä ei loppujen lopuksi ole paljoa eroa. Laitoin päällekkäin kahta erisävyistä pastellista vihreää. Se ensimmäinen, yksinkertainen versio (ylin kuva) varmaan olikin minusta paras.
Sitten testailin, miten alaluomen rajaukset sopivat tähän tyyliin...

 I started with just one colour on the lid of the right eye. Finding the perfect shade of green proved a little difficult since it has to have just the right amount of blue in it. I put two different pastel greens on top of each other. The first, simple version (in the upper pic) was probably my favourite of them all.
Then I put on some black eyeliner on the lower lid, to see how it looks...

Vasempaan silmään laitoin aluksi samat värit kuin oikeaan, ja sitten kokeilin varjostusta tummemmalla vihreällä. Sitten testailin turkoosinsävyistä lineria alas.
Lopuksi halusin tehdä cut creasen, eli tehdä varjostuksen yläluomelle, jota ei häivytetä vaan jonka on tarkoitus erottua eri värisenä "viivana" joka yhtyy alarajaukseen ulkonurkassa. Käytin siihen samaa petrolinsinistä tussia...olin aika huolimaton eikä lopputulos ole kovin kaunis, mutta tulipahan kokeiltua.

For the left eye I put the same shadows as on the right, and then a darker green into the crease. Then I experimented with a teal eyeliner underneath the eye.
Finally, I wanted to test out doing a cut crease where a different colour is used as a sharp, unblended shade in the crease. I used the same turquoise liner for that. I was being somewhat sloppy and the result isn't that pretty, but at least I got to try it.

Laitan vielä vaihtelun vuoksi kuvan huulistani, vaikka niissä ei ole mitään erikoista.

Thursday was fun

Torstaina käytiin taas kaupungilla Wilmandra-senpain kanssa. Vaikka me kierreltiin alennusmyynneissä iltamyöhään asti, en ostanut oikeastaan paljon mitään... Gina Tricotista sentään löysin korvakoruja ja hiusrusetteja -70% hintaan, sekä halvan ruutukaulahuivin. Löysin myös ihanan olkalaukun, mutta en kehdannut ostaa sitä, sillä en oikeastaan tarvitse uutta laukkua...vaikka kyllä se oli upea. x)
Muuten olen ollut aika laiska viime päivät, en jaksa panostaa ulkonäkööni ja siksi ei ole tännekään oikein päivitettävää. Osittain voimattomuuteni johtuu siitä, että olen sairastellut paljon. Poskiontelontulehdus, joka minulla oli viikkoja sitten, on jättänyt jälkeensä turvonneet limakalvot, ja sen takia minulla on vieläkin kauhean tummat silmänaluset.
Odottelen että netistä tilaamani meikit tulisivat perille...olen innoissani. :D

Last thursday I went shopping with Wilmandra-senpai again. Even though we were browsing the sales till late in the evening, I didn't really buy much... I did find some ear studs and hair bows at -70% price in Gina Tricot, as well as a cheap plaid scarf. I also found an adorable shoulder bag, but I didn't buy it, since I don't really need a new bag...but still, it was gorgeous. x)
Otherwise I've been kinda lazy, I can't be bothered to groom myself and so I don't have a lot to update this blog about. I keep getting sick, which also plays a part in my weariness. The sinusitis I suffered weeks ago has left my mucosa all swollen, which gives me huge dark circles under the eyes.
I'm waiting for the makeup I ordered online to arrive...pretty excited. :D

Spring/Summer make up

I think the Christian Dior S/S 2011 runway makeup was gorgeous! Absolutely love the bright, simple colours on the eyes. Makes me really happy for summer, I can't wait. Go here for more pictures.

Another S/S 11 makeup I loved was by Mary Katrantzou. Pastels! That pastel lavender on the eyes was exceptionally pretty. Pictures here.

New dress and more

Lumimyrskyä uhmaten kävin taas tänään kiertelemässä keskustan kauppoja, seuranani siskopuoli (taimikälie). Löysin H&M:ltä ihanan kokopitkän mekon (kuva yllä), väriltään vaalean koralli. Olen viime aikoina muutenkin tykännyt pitkistä mekoista ja hameista, tämä mekko näyttää myös ihanan satumaiselta läpinäkyvän päällyskankaan ansiosta. Käytin loppuun lähes kaikki joululahjaksi saamani lahjakortit. Ostin myös uuden huulipunan koska se oli alennuksessa, omistan kaksi muuta sävyä samaa huulipunaa ja mielestäni ne ovat laadukkaita. Oli mukava mutta pitkä päivä, ja kotiin päästyäni illalla olin aivan väsynyt.

Regardless of the snowstorm outside, I went shopping again today with my stepsister. I found a beautiful dress at H&M, its light coral and reaches all the way to my ankles (the picture above). Lately I've been into long dresses and skirts and I also love how fairytale-esque this new one looks thanks to the sheer top layer. I used up nearly all of the gift tokens I got for Christmas. I also bought a lipstick because it was on sale, I have two other shades of the same and I think their quality is good. It was a nice day, though a long one, and when I got home I was beat.

Kävin tänään kahvilla miehekkeeni ja parin kaverin kanssa. Soiteltiin siinä sitten Wilmandra-senpain kanssa ja hän tuli myöhemmin keskustaan tekemisen puutteessa. Hengailimme kahvilassa ja höpisimme, söimme ja otimme kuvia. En ollut ehtinyt enkä jaksanut panostaa ulkonäkööni yhtään, kun aamulla lähdin liikkeelle, ja se näkyy. Lisäksi oli niin kauhean kylmä (-20°C) että vaatteiden lämmittävyys meni ulkonäön edelle.

Muuten, ihan näin yleisesti... Olen aivan kyllästynyt mustaan ja harmaaseen! Haluan käyttää värikkäitä ja vaaleita vaatteita. Ikävä kyllä suurin osa vaatteistani, etenkin niistä talvikelpoisista, kuuluu juuri tähän tylsien ja tummien kategoriaan. Ja täällä blogissa kuvissa minulla aina vielä sattuu olemaan päällä epätavallisen synkeitä asuja. Kyllä minä värikkäitäkin vaatteita käytän... yritän tästä lähtien piristää vaatetustani vähän.


Today I went out for a coffee with my man and some friends. Later on after some phone calls Wilmandra-senpai came to the centrum because she was bored. So the two of us hung around in a coffee house, ate, talked and took pictures. I don't look that great in them, though, since I had no time or energy to consider my looks when I started my day. To top that off, it was freezing outside (-20°C) so the warmth of the clothes was more important than their stylishness.

Btw, just a general rant... I'm so tired of the colours black and grey! I'd like to wear colorful and light clothes. Sadly most of my wardrobe, especially the winter clothes, are dark and boring. I've noticed that all the pictures I've posted here on my blog happen to have unusually dark outfits. I do wear colours too... I'll try to brighten up my style in the future.

Haluan tuollaisen laukun joka näyttää koristeelliselta viulukotelolta.
Selailin helmikuun Kera-lehteä ja vaikka siellä on paljon upeita ja inspiroivia asuja, tämä pisti silmään kaikkein eniten. Laukku, joka mallilla on olallaan, on aivan ihana. En tiedä onko se viulukotelo, joka esittää laukkua kuvauksessa, vai onko se oikeasti tarkoitettu olkalaukuksi (ja jos on, en tiedä myöskään merkkiä (kuvan asu on Alice and the Pirates)). Tiedän vain, että haluan tuollaisen. En varsinaisesti pukeudu lolitaan, mutta voisin ihan hyvin käyttää sitä tavallisten vaatteiden kanssa. Mielestäni tuollainen laukku kun sopisi arkimuotiini loistavasti.
Nyt sitten vain etsimään tuollaista, mistäköhän voisi löytyä? Kirpputorilta?

I must have a bag that looks like a violin case like the one in that picture.
I was browsing through the February issue of Kera magazine, and even though there are a lot of lovely, inspiring outfits, this caught my eye. The bag the model has on her shoulder is simply gorgeous. I don't know wheter it's a real violin case posing as a bag, or wheter it actually is a shoulder bag (and if it is, I don't know the brand either (the outfit is by Alice and the Pirates)). I just know that I want one. I don't really wear lolita, but I can see it with my regular clothing.
So now I'll just have to find one...where? A flea market?
